Women caring for women: Nurses, who have a special understanding of women’s health and the birthing experience, are a natural choice for maternity care and throughout life. Certified nurse-midwives, masters-prepared practitioners, provide complete women’s health care.

From comprehensive physical exams through pregnancy, labor, and delivery, nurse-midwives offer a qualitative difference in women’s health services. Nurse-midwives spend quality time with you. They listen and understand. You learn. The emphasis is on maintaining your wellness and promoting health.

Nurse-midwives offer family planning counseling services, pre-conceptual counseling, pregnancy-related services, including delivery and postpartum care, adolescent pregnancy services, screening and treatment for sexually-transmitted diseases, colposcopy and screening for breast and cervical cancer.

Today’s certified-nurse midwife (CNM) is a registered nurse with a postgraduate degree (MSN) from an advanced education program accredited by the American College of Nurse-Midwives. They have passed a national certification examination and meet strict requirements set by state health agencies in the USA.

Nurse-midwifery care is covered by many insurance carriers.

At University Women’s Care, certified nurse-midwives provide routine gynecological health care for women of all ages (adolescent thru menopause):
